Off-plan property in Dubai: FAQs
Is off-plan property a good investment in Dubai?
It can be. Off-plan offers lower entry prices, interest-free payment plans and potential capital growth by handover. Returns depend on the developer, location and market conditions, so choose carefully.
How are off-plan buyers protected in Dubai?
Your payments go into a DLD-regulated escrow account for the project, and your purchase is registered on Oqood. Always choose a DLD-registered developer and project.
How much do I need to pay upfront for off-plan?
Typically a 10–20% down payment plus the 4% DLD registration fee at booking. The rest follows the developer’s payment plan.
What is a post-handover payment plan?
Part of the price is paid in instalments after you receive the keys – often over two to five years – so rental income can help cover the remaining payments.
Can I sell an off-plan property before completion?
Many developers allow resale once a minimum percentage has been paid, with a developer NOC and transfer fee. See our property selling service.
Can I get a mortgage for off-plan property?
Some banks finance off-plan property, usually up to about 50%, but most buyers use the developer payment plan. See our mortgage service.
