Dubai continues to set global benchmarks in smart mobility and transport innovation. As part of its future-ready vision, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has successfully scaled up real-time AI-powered monitoring systems across taxis, luxury vehicles, e-hailing services, and bus lanes—making safety and compliance smarter than ever.
AI-Powered Smart Monitoring — The Results So Far
Between January and July 2025, the AI-led Smart Monitoring Centre recorded 428,349 monitoring cases, out of which 29,886 were confirmed violations. These infractions were detected through advanced analytics, real-time data, and behavior-tracking technology.
Key Violations Detected:
- 3,127 speeding incidents
- 652 seatbelt-related violations
- 4,251 cases of mobile phone usage while driving
These numbers highlight not just better surveillance — but a stronger shift toward proactive safety management.
What Makes Dubai’s AI Monitoring System Unique?
The Smart Monitoring Centre goes beyond issuing fines. It uses AI, digital scanning tools, and real-time data analysis to detect non-compliance and identify behavior patterns that could lead to future risks.
This smart system currently monitors:
- Taxis
- Luxury transport vehicles
- Bus lanes
- E-hailing companies
It also provides insights to governmental and private stakeholders, enabling continuous improvement in rules, infrastructure, and service quality.
Future Plans: AI Is Just the Beginning
According to Saeed Al Balooshi, Director of Passenger Transport Activities Monitoring, the centre is expanding its AI capabilities to include even more behavioral metrics.
The future roadmap includes:
- Full automation of violation detection
- Wider integration across transport networks
- More accurate predictive monitoring models
- Data-driven policy planning
This aligns with Dubai’s broader goals of zero-compromise transport safety, tech-driven governance, and enhanced passenger experience.
Why This Matters for Dubai and Its Residents
Dubai is not only improving compliance — it is building trust, reducing risks, and supporting a world-class transport ecosystem. This initiative reinforces Dubai’s position as a global leader in smart city transformation and mobility technology.
Dubai’s bold move to integrate AI-driven enforcement into daily transport operations is a major milestone in making mobility safer, faster, and smarter. This proves that technology and governance can work hand-in-hand to shape a safer tomorrow.
